Ein Gedi - By Chaya Simon (as told by Liba)

When Zaidy was younger and not yet married - in the year 1967, he went to Eretz Yisroel. In 1967 there had been a big war in Eretz Yisroel and we (the Yidden) got back a lot of our land, and many areas - including the kosel I think - were places that Yidden had not been able to go to for many years before that. Zaidy - always the adventurer - decided that he had to see EVERYTHING in Eretz Yisroel. One of the places he went to was called Ein Gehdy. (It is talked about a lot in Navi and many people visit it each year now). He was climbing on a cliff when suddenly he lost his footing and started falling off the side of the cliff. B"H he was wearing his trusty binoculars around his neck, and the strap caught him and he was able to crawl back up and continue his travels without a problem. Even with such a scary moment, Zaidy never stopped finding things to go and see how beautiful Hashem made the world, and also Zaidy continued to go to all the heilike places, to kivre tzaddikim that were in such out-of-the-way (and sometimes dangerous) places, that most people never go there.
